CROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: CAIROLI MX1 WORLD CHAMPION WITH TOMMI
30/08/2009 - Today Antonio Cairoli, who races with Tommi handlebars, has conquered in Lierop, in the Netherlands, with the next to last season’s date, his third World Title, the first one in MX1 class. The success of the Sicilian arrived at the end of a hard competition, raced in the track that is considered the university of the motocross for its deep sandy fund. Cairoli has raced with a double injection of pain-killer because of the pain to the left knee operated one year ago, when after the accident in South Africa he had to give up the hope to conquer the title.
This result arrives after a strong competition, in which he has not succeeded in going up the podium, but he has conquered important results, that have brought him to conquering the World Title.
In Race 1 Cairoli started behind a great Dycker, who has won both the manche, and Antonio succeeding in closing fifth despite the pain to the knee. In Race 2, started eleventh in grid, he has done an unbelievable reassembles that has made him occupied the sixth place after few laps.
“First I want to say thank you to my family, to my team and to all my fans” – the first words of Cairoli at the end of the competition – “I didn't believe I would have succeeded in conquering here the World Title: this is a hard race and it’s not easy finish if you are not at 100%. Now the next objective is the Trial of the Nations on October 4th: I want to give my best again and conquer another victory!”.
Excellent also the results of the other rider of Red Bull Yamaha De Carli Team: in fact Tanel Leok has closed third and sixth and he firmly maintains the seventh position in the classification.
David Philippaerts and Joshua Coppins, who race with Yamaha Monster Motocross Team, after a positive competition, now they respectively occupy the third one and the sixth position in the world standing: for them the world championship is still open.
Next date with the Cross World Championship is on September 13th in Brasil.
